Do I have to be an established author to apply?
Not in terms of sales numbers, but you do need a finished, published book and an active promotional presence of some kind. Pre-published authors are welcome to reach out, but HANDS works best when you already have a reader community to direct to your storefront.
Can I keep my books on Amazon while joining HANDS?
Yes — with one exception. Titles enrolled in Kindle Unlimited (KDP Select) cannot be listed on HANDS while that enrollment is active, because KU requires ebook exclusivity. Once the 90-day window expires and you don’t re-enroll, those titles are welcome. Wide titles, audiobooks not under Audible exclusivity, and print books have no conflict.
What does “active promotional commitment” actually mean?
It means you have an ongoing way to reach readers — a newsletter, a social presence, a reader group, participation in BookFunnel promotions, or some combination. We’re not looking for a specific follower count. We’re looking for authors who are genuinely working to find readers rather than listing and waiting for the algorithm to do it.
How quickly can I get my books live after being accepted?
Typically 1–2 weeks from acceptance to live storefront, depending on how quickly we can get your files, metadata, and cover art. Plan 60 onboarding takes a little longer because of the additional setup involved in the newsletter and campaign infrastructure.
Is there an application fee or setup cost?
No upfront fee. HANDS takes its share as a percentage of sales — nothing until you’re selling. See the Plans page for the full revenue split breakdown including BookFunnel and payment processor fees.
I’m a narrator — what are you looking for?
Professional narrators with a track record, the ability to work to a production schedule, and genuine interest in the Royalty Payoff model rather than flat fees. Our narrator roster is deliberately small. We prioritise quality of match over volume of titles.
